Reaping Entries
Each year a child’s name is entered into the Hunger Games one additional time from the year before. This means that when a child is twelve they have only one entry into the Reaping, but by the time they are eighteen they have twenty-eight.
If a child chooses to take out tesserae then they must also factor in how many of these they have taken out into account; tesserae are accumulative and will remain with the child every year. For example, if an eighteen year old has taken out three tesserae every year – one for their mother, one for their father, and one for themselves -, then they should have their name in the drawing a total of forty-nine times. There is no way to lower your number of entries into the games.
