The Truth About Me
Behind the Mirror | For a male Raidon is rather attractive, his skin lightly tanned by the sun since he works so much in the orchards. His hair is a dark brown color so dark that it almost appears black, though there are streaks of lighter brown held within the strands that are cut in a jagged mess all around his face. The back of his hair reaches the bottom of his neck while in the front it barely covers his eyes. The orbs that often take in his surrounds are a rich brown color, the darkness of it matching most of his hair. His overall build is a lanky athletic one, muscle mass clear evident behind his arms though it is not enough to stand out on its own. His lanky build is in part due to his work in the fields and exercising so much, but another part of it is that he does not eat as much as others because he cannot afford to go to the store and buy a lot of food. He stands five feet ten inches tall and still growing to this day.
Whether it be wandering around the district or going to work Raidon always has a pair of straight leg, dark wash jeans on that are slightly too big for him, this accompanied with a plain pair of shoes that are starting to wear out. The only thing of his appearance that alters at all is his shirts, this playing with the weather. If it is hot out he simply wears a thin tank top so he does not have to worry about overheating and when the weather is nice he wears a plain v-neck shirt. In the winter he wears his favorite coat, a dark blue one with white strips across it. The material is not that thick but he does not feel as though he should bother with buying anything else since it is usually hot in District Eleven.
Personality | Raidon is a very calm person who enjoys solitude, peace, and quiet, all of which give him an advantage since he is able to take in so much of his surroundings without having to even utter a word. It is rare that he ever shows more emotion that normal, his usual look being one of indifference, but if a person were to look closely they would realize that his eyes give everything away. Despite being a good actor and knowing how to hide how he truly feels he has never mastered the art of masking his emotions in his dark colored eyes, something that has sometimes proved to play against him. Another important aspect to his personality is his lack loyalty and determination, both of which are strongly expressed in every one of his actions. When he begins a project he works towards finishing it no matter how difficult it may prove because when he makes a promise he ensures that it will be carried out to the greatest potential. Raidon is always loyal to those who need his help as well, this playing back into his loyal characteristics. There is only one odd thing that does not flow fluidly with the rest of his personality, this being his sense of twisted sarcasm. He enjoys messing with people's who he finds to be a nuisance by speaking in riddles and throwing snide remarks into his words without actually giving away what he is doing to them.
One of Raidon’s favorite things to do is to paint and draw, both being remarkable talents that he continues to advance in his spare time. Whenever people spot him wandering through District Eleven he has some sort of sketch book or paper with him so he can draw whatever strikes him with inspiration. The only thing that he can say that he dislikes is being forced to speak to people since he has little to no real social skills, though when he is forced to he can do get somewhere in speaking. Besides that he only dislikes blood because it reminds him of his mother’s death when he coughed up blood for a few days before passing away late in the winter.
My Haunting Memories
Raidon Apollyon Takeda was born to Apollyon and Mai Takeda during the warm summers of District Eleven when the harvest was good and food was abundant, giving him a wonderful start in life that only a few children were blessed with. Despite the hopeful birth of the first and only son of the Takeda family there was not much they could offer him in terms of a future because their family was so poor, but they still did their best to provide give him all that he could need. At the early age of four Raidon was sent to school with the permission of the local school master simply because his family was rarely home, this playing out to help him when he got older. Within a few weeks of attending the local school his parents came to learn about the odd quirks of their son, one that very few children in District Eleven ever seemed to show because they were usually so social. It turned out that Raidon preferred to stay away from the other children, often sitting by himself to draw or study from his school books. This behavior worried his teachers that perhaps there was something wrong with him so they encouraged him to learn with the other kids in class, but he refused every advanced and soon enough they simply allowed him to do as he wished because of how high his grades in class were; by the age of six he was learning from the books that were meant for the children three grade levels ahead of him.
When he turned ten years old Raidon received his first taste of the future that he was destined for, accompanying his father and mother to the local orchard where they worked day in and day out. His teachers had agreed to let him out of school early to go work because they did not need to spend as much time with him, pleasing him greatly since he got a chance to stay away from all of the other children that he had no interest in. Raidon found the work in the orchards to be difficult at first, but with a lot of dedication and hard work he quickly found ways to climb to the tops of the trees without the help of an adult and even cut his work time in half so he had free time to do as he wished. If he had his way he would have studied even more, but school books were forbidden on the orchard grounds because it would only slow him down in his climbing.
Without having a chance to study more Raidon was forced to search for other outlets to consume his energy. This was the time in which Raidon began studying the art of hatchet wielding and throwing for a few reasons. One was that the materials were so accessible to him and the other was that he often had to use them anyway when he worked to remove any branches that threatened them. He started with simply bashing away at the wood around him, learning what angles got the cleanest cuts and what could possibly be the easiest death blow, but soon he started to throw them at different targets that he positioned all around the orchard. He quickly learned how to take out various targets with a deadly accuracy from even the highest branches of the orchard, nothing able to live through his deadly touch.
The cycle of attending school, working, and training became a part of Raidon's daily life and by the time he was fourteen he was not only one of the smartest children in the district but one of the most skilled hatchet wielders. Only his parents knew of this skill though because they feared that giving too much away to the government would result in his ultimate choosing as a tribute, something that none of them wanted him to go through. He never uttered a word of his skills with a hatchet to anyone and made sure to avoid everyone not only in school but at the orchard as well where he practiced, making his social skills that much worse. His lack of ability to speak to others was shown to be horrid when he had to go out and purchase goods in market and soon enough he stopped talking all together when his parents both died all within a span of four short months. His mother died in late December from pneumonia and his father died in February in a careless work accident, these two in combination sending him into a downward spiral that he would never seem to recover from. He became a child without the father he needed to lead him, a child without the mother he needed to care for him; all he had left was a world that could care less what his fate would be.
For a sixteen year old with no family Raidon knew his way around remarkably well and this was the only thing that kept him alive in the years following his parents’ death. He knew that he would not afford his current home where he had lived with his family so he sold most of the furniture that his family had owned along with possessions that he felt no attachment to, then moving into a much smaller apartment on the edge of town where isolation was in abundance; it was the perfect location for a child who did not want anything to do with socializing. This became the perfection of life and the only place he knew, spending most of his time in the empty area where little to no people lived. Now at the age of eighteen Raidon is often seen walking around District Eleven alone when he is not at work in the luscious orchards, looking for places to sit and paint or draw. Words rarely slip from his lips unless he finds them absolutely necessary as he keeps himself busied under the hot sun.
I’m Lethal When Provoked
Physical Skills | Raidon is extremely skilled in evasion and climbing because of his job in the orchards. Since a child he has been taught to climb to the highest branches of the trees in record times and while doing this he has also taught himself how to hide amongst the leaves, posing a challenge to anyone who would need to find him. He is also a skilled hatchet wielder and thrower, both of which have also come along with his line of work in District Eleven. He was trained with a hatchet to cut down branches that were dying or posed a danger to others and while doing this he also practiced throwing the hatchet at a distance because he knew of the dangers that the Hunger Games proposed.
Physical Weaknesses | The one physical weakness that Raidon possesses is that his body type is extremely small, making it difficult for him to do much of anything against someone else who is much stronger than him. This combined with his lack of training against people in hand-to-hand combat all make it difficult for him to fight against a stronger opponent.
Mental Skills | The one mental skill that Raidon possesses is his advanced intelligence, something that he has been working on since he was a child. He always loved studying and learning when he was a younger child and this love for knowledge has never wavered, giving him an advantage over most of the other districts who have little knowledge on how to survive in the wilderness prior to being chosen as a tribute.
Mental Weaknesses | Raidon’s true mental weakness is something that he does not tell anyone else, this being a fear of blood. For some reason blood has always made his extremely queasy and he fears that this will play against him in the Hunger Games since nobody is safe from the horrors that he would have to face.
My Own Personal Hell
My District | Raidon has always thought that District Eleven is a nice place to live as long as you do not anger the government that runs it. He also wishes that they would help out those who need it more, but he knows that this will never happen simply because the Capitol has no concern with the lower districts of Panem.
The Hunger Games | Just like the Reaping, the Hunger Games are a basic part of life that everyone must accept for there is no point in arguing against the Capitol and their wishes. Two sacrifices a year from each district is an easy price to pay in comparison to the horrors that the Capitol could inflict upon each district if they truly chose to.
